Daniels MR2 - long post and short story.

Gayest. Story. Ever.

Looks in good condition though, has it had all the belts done recently? Should be every 60k/5 years. Was there a reason you didn't go for a turbo?

Sorry, I know it was a gay story, but the car is a revelation to me. Sorry if some people here can't relate to that. The belt and clutch were done last year, approx 5,000 miles ago. The bodywork is mint but the engine bay needs some cleaning up. I just couldn't afford to insure a turbo. Believe me I tried.

A car you love, yet before you even have got it home your drifting it?.

A car you love should be driven with respect because it will be heart crushing if you crash.

I respectfully disagree. I knew the road well, it was very quiet, so I had a little play. I wouldn't risk wrecking it or hurting anyone. The car is very easy to get the back out when the road is wet. I think the drift is being blown out of proportion. It was a very small roundabout, not a massive thing. This was not a Fast n Furious drift. I was just toying with it.

You're a sensitive one aren't you?

You should probably have looked into my motoring history (Owned 7 MR2s and counting...) before resorting to unnecessary insults.

I'm not sensitive, I took it as a joke and was joking in return. Hence the :) Sorry for the misunderstanding. Would love to see some photos of your MR2's?

As for writing in 3rd person being cringing, I respectfully disagree. Just enjoy the story. I enjoy writing, and wrote this little bit as I knew some, who share my passion, would enjoy it. It won't be for everyone, but i'm glad some have enjoyed it.

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments. Had my first 'work run' in the car today. Lovely cruiser.

SNAP!

Same age and colour, although mine's a turbo. I had an n/a but it was just too slow :D

I really like that. Love the stock wheels. Nice colour choice too!

Sorry bud, still not buying it unless you're vrry talented, supremely lucky or somone has spent time setting it up to drift (very unlikely looking at it) - anyway it's not advised as I'm sure you'll know if you've liked them for a while !

I loved all my 2's, would still have a turbo if situation allowed

It's a story, so take it as you like. But I don't mean you to think it was some massive drift around a roundabout. This was a small, flat roundabout in a retail park, and it was soaking wet after two days of rain. The car just didnt need much persuasion, and I think i was maybe very lucky to keep it under control, after reading about the wet weather horror stories.

I had one of those once, lovely cars given their age.

Although i have to ask why on earth didnt you get the damned turbo model! :)

The red and orange ones on track are the same car (as is the faded red one towards the back of the group shot). It's currently supercharged and we've got loads of pictures of that one as we've been sprinting it for 5 seasons now. There are also a few threads here detailing the build and our progress etc.

The blue and white one has the potential to be very special. We only bought it earlier this year and I haven't driven it yet (apart from a quick go I had a few years ago). It's all fibreglass panels and currently has a supercharger engine with the SC swapped for a turbo from an S15. Just need to get it running then either start tidying up the rough edges or steal all the good bits for the orange car.
