Absolutely spot on in my opinion. I think both managers and players should take responsibility, but ultimately the buck stops with the manager. Pulis and Allardyce are always employing underhand tactics and it's good to see a high profile player coming out and saying so. McCarthy I wouldn't normally say would do this - I think he has been mentioned more because of the way Karl Henry has been flying into tackles like a lunatic.

Interesting comments on how Hodgson stopped his players back chatting the referee - another pet hate of mine.

I hope you're not an Arsenal fan. I've given up even mentioning bad tackles now because apparently it's just hypocrisy/elitism/bitterness by me if I dare to suggest they be punished.

I think the point with Henry is that McCarthy should clearly have sat down with him at some point and said "Look, stop flying in like a maniac, it does no-one any good."

Cant say i disagree with him tbh...he does have a point about reckless tackles but its part and parcel of the game now so until the refs start sending players off for reckless tackles then it wont stop anytime soon...its the only way the Wolves, Stokes and blackburns of the game know how to play ie kick the living carp out of the other players.

It shouldn't be part and parcel of the game, tackles are fine, there's an art and skill to a good, clean tackle. What needs to be eradicated, quickly, are the thuggish and brainless tackles made at break neck speed which are clearly reckless and stupid

Of course it shouldnt be but sadly it is when you have teams like stoke, wolves and blackburn who set out to disrupt other teams by playing the way they do...until their managers get it through their thick skulls that this sort of stuff isnt going to be tolerated then its going to keep happening.

Footballs alway,s been like this, don,t know what Murphy,s moaning about, unless he,s another that thinks footie was invented by Sky,hence the Sky4.

*Awaits Spunj's entry into the thread*

Look at the other thread, it's laughably pointless fella.

Consign it into the past or play rugby, perhaps you're confusing one sport with the other fella.

It's funny how some fans prefer that style of football yet are so baffled when we predictably and logically do utter **** at summer international tournaments. Lol how is this not obvious yet?

;)

The English big man syndrome is hilarious, just have to laugh at it

I can't work out if they're becoming a parody of themselves and doing it for the lols, or if they're just THAT stupid. I deeply fear it's the latter

"You have just got to accept in these times, with the ball moving so fast and the player moving so fast, sometimes you are going to mis-time tackles and that is when injuries can happen.''

Why do we have to accept it? Such a stupid comment. We're going to injure people, face it, accept it, it's going to happen. Also, it has nothing to do with the ball moving fast, it has to do with ill-informed and over-aggressive decisions

Got me, I have no idea. It's funny how De Jong can be dropped, a statement like that comes from his coach, how the WC final was an utter disgrace by fans over here - yet such antics are fine on an EPL pitch?

Murphy's right, if a player was diving and kept getting himself booked - his manager would have a word. This is three games at a time yet seemingly nothing is said (you can tell so, by the fact that some players repeatedly do the same again and again).
