Danny Murphy's comments ....

Those tackles are 'part and parcel' of the game.

I'd love an intelligent person to say that those tackles were neccessary, and were needed in that football game, without cracking up.

But obviously they were and Wenger is a moaner etc. :/

The one on Walcott is so deeply cynical and disgraceful, right down to the very last stamp before he releases his leg. I can't stand that. He didn't even get penalised iirc?

There's a difference between hard tackles and unfair tackles. I'm all for hard tackles. If you fly in, win the ball one footed, and go on to break somebody's leg, fair enough, it's nobody's fault. If you stamp on sombody, go in two footed, or go in high, then it should be penalised (but should already be based on the laws of the game). I don't think that the PL can crack down by changing the laws, what needs to change is the technology, enabling refs to catch wrongdoers.

This.... its funny because at the end of the day the ref could easily decide the game anyway.

Go hard or go home

Just had a few weeks of bad tackles, happens every season.

But the point is that it doesn't have to happen every season, you're accepting it as inevitable just because it's been happening on a regular basis.

If someone had a word with these guys, then players like Ramsey, Zamora, Dembele and Ben Arfa wouldn't be getting horrifically injured every season, it would maybe happen once every few years and that's nothing but a good thing for the players, the EPL and english football in general.

I'll use another example, every year some players are badly injured by wild elbows, the media and fans are united in saying how disgraceful it is, yet how is that different to a wild tackle? there's no intention to hurt, the guy just lost control of his arm and ended up hurting someone, yet because it's an arm and not a foot makes it totally different.

Absolutely spot on in my opinion. I think both managers and players should take responsibility, but ultimately the buck stops with the manager. Pulis and Allardyce are always employing underhand tactics and it's good to see a high profile player coming out and saying so. McCarthy I wouldn't normally say would do this - I think he has been mentioned more because of the way Karl Henry has been flying into tackles like a lunatic.

Interesting comments on how Hodgson stopped his players back chatting the referee - another pet hate of mine.

The manager may load the Gun

But it's the player who pulls the trigger.

It's the players responsibility not to injure his fellow professional, zealous tackling is fine, reckless foul tackles resulting in injuries are totally the responsibility of a player

His comments have been blown up out of all proportion IMO. No idea why the media has grabbed hold of it in the way they have.

Wilshere didn't do any damage to his opponent but still apologised in public for it. The only reason he did so was to simply appease moronic fans awaiting a serious foul/incident by an Arsenal player.

I don't think Wenger squirmed at anything, that was the response he was always going to give, whether it be now - or a year later. It's football, we were bound to foul an opponent eventually. We all knew people were just waiting in the aisles ready to leap out, so in all honesty I couldn't give a toss.

But you're right he is a hypocrite, because Arsene of course hates playing the game in a right way and would never order his team to get in another's faces. He and Arsenal fans always explained it as a purely one dimensional argument lol.

The best things about his comments are the complete failure to understand what he meant by the managers they were aimed at.

All of them have said "we dont send players out to hurt people he shouldnt say that".

Thats ok, because he hasnt said that, he's said you buy poor quality players and get them all pumped with no intention of doing anything other than stopping the other side playing.
