Dantes Inferno demo up

Naa it was the US PS3 one I dled when you mentioned it last week - only got around to it and was disappointed :(

ps3ud0

just tried on Ps3, it couldn't be a GOW clone even if it tried any harder!.
Not that i mind as these types of gameplay is one of my fav so deffo will be playing.

Does it bare any relation to its namesake other than it being called Dante's Inferno and being set in hell?

No, unless I somehow missed the fact that Dante was a Templar fighting through hell with a MASSIVE SCYTHE looking for his girlfriend who was kidnapped by Lucifer.

Sounds even more retarded when you think about it that way.

I don't know. I kinda liked it. Alright I liked it a lot. I tired so hard to hate it , but how can you when you step up onto that giant monster and start breathing fire at everything?

I don't get how you can say no....

The divine comedy is about hell, and all the stages of hell. Dante was the creator and writer of the divine comedy, hense dante's Inferno...or Dante's picturing of hell. A flat no is not true. Dante's inferno the game is set in the inferno's written about by Dante Aligeri(sp?)

It's like saying God of War doesnt picture Greek Mythology because the anti-hero Kratos battles through greece with unbelievable power to get revenge on the Gods. Regardless, It's set around Greek mythology.

Well, that's taken me by surprise!

Really liked that demo! Will have to keep a look out for this. Hopefully it'll be like the Darkness for me, comes out of nowhere and is really good! Very good demo. Excellent framerate.

Well If you've read some of it you would know its not even really about hell at all, its an allegory. Taking the stories as some literal depiction I dont think was the writers intent. From the depiction I cant even see there's much of what he originally described of hell, except perhaps the levels and vaguest of facsimiles. Where, and how many are its similarities to the poems?

It sounds to me as if the developers have taken their view of a literal hell and stamped the Dante name on it to make a bit of extra money.

Fighting, your way through hell and having a boss fight with the devil, its so absurd in the context of the poem its just...just....

I'll have to download the 360 demo to give it a try. I first played it on the PS3 at the Eurogamer Expo back in October so it'll be interesting to see whether it's any different to that.

Had the demo downloaded since its release. Not got round to playing it myself, but my sister's boyfriend had a go on it yesterday and loved it. I saw snippets and must say it looks rather good. Certainly preferred the look of it to Bayonetta, which I just didn't enjoy at all.

(Double post because no-one would read the edit...)

Played the demo yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not a Day 1 purchase as I think it probably lacks the depth to blow £35 on it, but certainly a lot of fun and visually very appealing.

Missus hated it. One of the rear speakers is behind 'her chair' and the noise drove her mad - "it's worse than COD!" she exclaimed... That's saying something :D

wow really enjoyed the demo of this. not usually my type of thing either

Exactly my feeling as well.

Really enjoyed the demo, yes the story is about as much of a rip off as is possible and I was avoiding this game more on principle than anything else but after playing the demo I've pre ordered it and am really looking forward to playing it next month.

The Divine Comedy is a poem of which The Inferno is an allegorical exploration of the 9 circles of hell in which Dante, guided by Virgil, learns what sin truly is. He also goes on to explore Purgatory and Heaven.

Beatrice, who in the game is Dante's Wife is, in the Comedy, his "ideal woman", who guides him through "Paradiso", aka Heaven.

The reason Dante ended up on his tour of hell because he was "Lost in Sin".

The only similarity the two stories hold is names and places, though the reason behind his trip to hell is close to the truth, it's also a long way off.

Now, contrary to my earlier post the story, I am not saying that the story is bad, it's not, it just isn't the Divine Comedy.

I was really looking forward to this after seeing some of the developer videos, but having played the demo I'm really disappointed. It's just a button basher.

Steps: Mash buttons until you collect souls (or whatever they were) until you get enough to unlock more effective means of collecting souls. Mash buttons in new order. Rinse. Repeat.

Boring.

Pretty much the same as God of War or every other game in this genre then?
