Anybody have this case and have such a monumental hard time getting the screws out of the shroud, got 3 philips and flat heads and I swear these things are soldered in and there is one by the bottom of the case that will not come out and I swear to god I am losing it.

I have been at my build for an hour and all ive done so far is removed 8 screws (6 were to remove case sides), I thought id get a big case, everything should be roomy and easy to do, LIKE **** IT IS.

I am so close to seeing if I can return this, im sweating like a pig, my back is killing me and I have only got as far as removing half a dozen screws, worst case ever.

Edit
I give up, over tightened screw has defeated me, this thing is in WAY too tight and it is needed to remove the shroud, why are these not just thumb ones, the case is big enough.

Ok, got the screw out, now I cant install the power supply because the case don't come with screws for it and no screws with PSU and motherboard is just the motherboard, what the hell happened to PC building, everything was just slot in and go and you had all the parts you needed, getting another headache coming on now.

Getting close to a breakdown with this case.

Edit

Im finally done, im calling OC up tomorrow to see if I can return this pos case, cant even install the power supply in it.

Had one. Quickly got rid of it within a month.
The pain of removing the PSU shroud drove me insane.
Not to mention the lack of airflow.

much better cases on the market. Moved to a C700M and that was bliss to build in comparison.

It just looked roomy and nice, didnt know I was going to do my back in, cramp my hands, give myself multiple headaches and make myself physically sick from the stress.

My current PC took all of 10-15m to put together, in 2 days ive got teh screws out and figured out I cant install the PSU

Edit
Can add falling down the stairs taking it down to the crapshow that is me trying to build a new pc, going to have to get rid of this headache before I call them up tomorrow.

Took me weeks to settle on a case now I got to start over.

I might go for the Lancool II Mesh Performance Midi Tower case if they approve my return, hopefully my back and knees are not to bad when it comes time to try again after all this hassle and falling down the stairs.

If it will accommodate a Noctua Chromax U12A ofc

I ended up taking a dremell to mine to improve airflow.
As for the PSU shroud....I mean really what is the bloody point of it.

Hide the cables :D

Jokes aside it seems majority of cases come with these now I just thought the bigger the case the easier it would be to work with and do stuff, boy was I wrong.

Really hoping OC don't mind taking it back, this will be the first time I wanted to send something back but not the first time sending something back.

The only thing I think ive had to send back was back in the days when 80GB drives were enough for an operating system and some programs and it was DOA making really funky noises.

Was really looking forward to getting this 12700k system up, upgrading from a 3570k and 8gb memory.

Me too. Took a dremel to mine that is. Although, I'm still not happy with the airflow.

I have the Rev1 so didn't have the PSU shroud in the first place.

While I did have the right screws, the PSU mounting is probably the bit that I like the least about the case.

Out of curiosity what screws are needed, case came with none (even said so in manual) and said nothing about what to use.

Good question, it was a few years ago when I did the first build. The screws to attach the PSU to the mounting frame came with the PSU, I think. Then I just went through the bags of screws that came with the case until found the ones that fit the base of the case for the frame to slot onto and the side of the frame to secure it. None of the bags were labeled. I don't think any ended up cross-threaded ;). Looking in the accessories box just now, it seems I have more types of screw than are listed in the manual. I don't know where they came from; but I don't recall needing to dig around for spares from anywhere else.

The manual is pretty uninmpressive, so I probably stopped looking at it fairly quickly.

Having just done an upgrade/rebuild with a custom water loop, I would say the case is very well made and the flexibility is great. But that flexibility means there's a lot of compromises in the design.

Didn't get no screws with my Corsair RM 850, just the psu and cables

I'm trying to think back. Screws definately came with the Dark Power PSU I've just put in, and I think most PSUs I have had have had them. But, I have a vague notion there was a phase when the case would come with black PSU screws to replace the silver ones that PSU manufacturers were providing.

But if you ain't got any you're stuck. I think they are the same size as one of the other common case screws, so give what you've got a go. Unless you are determined to send the case back, then it's moot.

Its already on its way back and there is padding between the frame and the back of the PSU so you need longer than usual screws.

Done my hands in trying to get the bottom screw out, done my back with the hours of leaning over trying to figure out what has to come out and tumbling down last few steps taking the case back down, as you said manual was pretty naff and confusing tbh and ive never had such a struggle with a case before.

If it sat flush with the frame it probably would have been fine but it didn't, really not sure why it doesnt sit flush with the case tbh with the middle man component as an extra option.

Over the two days I was getting so angry, stressed and tired to the point of it actually making me physically sick.

I know getting bits and bobs into the case depending on size can be finicky and it may take into the hours if you want to make everything look perfect and pretty but you shouldn't have to be spending hours trying to get half a dozen screws out of a case and finding out how you cant attach a main component to the case when the parts are not supplied for it from the manufacturer.

I think I might go with the Lancool Mesh II, looks simple, spacious for what I want, PSU sits flush with the case like the other 3 cases I have owned (3 cases over 2 systems, Akasa Eclipse 62, Cooler Master HAF 932 and my current Zalman Z9+).

Honestly if I could have gotten front tab replacements for the HAF and updated IO port I might have had a punt at cleaning it up (been gathering dust for at least half a decade lol, still has DVD Writer and fan controller in it).

I am just hoping everything goes ok with the return and its not mishandled during transport, once current case situation is resolved ill see what I can do about getting another.

Was a large outlay and I don't want to expend too much cash (I am overly careful when it comes to money and what I have to spend freely).

I am just hoping when I eventually get round to building this system (Still got all the other parts safely stored) I hope the rest of these are fine, none of them have been taken out the box yet.

Overall its been a pretty crappy week so far, im hoping it doesn't continue with transportation of the case back to OC.

Fair enough, you don't want to be going through that to get a PC built.

The PSU mount is strange. It's done that way because if you move the motherboard tray down there isn't room in the back panel for the PSU. But I never understood why they didn't just include an extra bracket for all the people who didn't move the tray; cost I guess. They did eventually make one when they introduced the Dark Power Pro PSUs that have a C20 connector on them so won't work with the existing PSU adapter, but you have to get it from their website and it's only free if you have both the case and a Dark Power Pro PSU.

Good luck with the return.
