Equinox (spring/autumn) = 12hours daylight 12 hours night time.
Winter solstice = longest night.
Summer solstice = longest day.

The equinox is, as the name suggests, the time when there is an exactly equal amount of light and darkness. There are solstices in winter and summer

I totally know what you mean though, I walk into hospital at 7:30 and leave at half five. If I didn't smoke I doubt I'd get any real sunlight

The date of the winter solstice is variable, this year it's the 22nd December.

I cant wait for light evenings again, im pretty limited on what I can do of an evening now so some light would be great to get outdoors again.

Going to work in the cold, wet and dark sucks, but coming home again in the same conditions is horrible!

I used to be a Winter person, but this years summer was so good that it's changed my opinion.

I miss going out on a Saturday night without having to pay cloakroom fees then walking home in the early hours of the morning just as the sun is rising.

I don't mind it being cold, so long as it snows. The rain I can handle...but not the strong winds.

Roll on hot sticky nights in bed, with the tower fan on full blast.
