Hi, not really sure where to post this so here it goes.

I've built a very shoddy stand for my monitor where my amp for my tannoy f1 speakers go underneath. Everything on my desk is black or dark and the speakers are dark oak coloured.

I need some varnish or dye?? for the wood (pine I think) which will be dark, I've had a look for "Dark Oak" but they all seem too light.

Any ideas, also don't need lots not much wood here :)

Thanks.

Its not a walnut finish is it?

The speaker company I worked for had a Walnut finish, and thats a pretty dark brown colour going by your picture

Colron is good for making light wood really dark, try a sample and do a few coats and see how dark you can get, Also i second the walnut stain if you want darker than oak

They are more black than brown.

Was thinking of maybe getting some of the black stuff off:

You know any places where can get small samples of this?

Definitely the dark oak effect from Tannoy... as I have the same finish on my pair :)

Can't help with the question though...

get a professional french polisher to do it. wood staining isn't as easy as you might think if you want a top finish

Not looking for anything professional, they would just laugh at my creation, doesn't have to be a top finish, just has to make it look darker because its standing out a bit now.
