Hi just a quick question, every player on the family pc plays videos really darkly, if you understand what i mean, as in every video file played looks like its had contrast and bightness turned down to like %10, thought it might be (probably is) a codec problem so i put VLC on there and still dark on there :/ any ideas??

(sorry if this is on the wrong forum, move if it is please)

In your video drivers look for the brightness/gamma/whatever of 'Overlays' and increase them. Every driver is different so I can't give specific instructions. But basically the keyword is 'overlay' or 'video overlays'.

They suck BTW, Vista's desktop compositor means that video overlays are now history.

hehe, i asked me bro before i asked this to reinstall NVIDIA driver, and that fixed it lol, thought i found the overlay bit and undertand it now :D ty

nvidia had a few weird problems with newer drivers that sometimes cause this until you re-install them

I Have the same problem with VLC player in Vista too... so does my friend. I'm sure VLC will make a fix for vista soon.

I had this problem when i updated to a new driver. So i isntalled a previous driver until there was a new one.
