Dark Void demo.

The flight controls are horrendous, talk about falling at the first hurdle.
Works fine with a controller, but I hate aiming with controller, I’m not going to use mouse and keyboard and then change to controller when I need to fly. They shouldn’t have released a demo, I was thinking of getting this :D

Completed it earlier today.

Very short demo around 6 mins long controls are fine with an X360 gamepad as thats what its designed for. Game is just a multiplatform design with aerial & ground combat on the same maps. SP only no MP whatsover. Gameplay is like a cross between Halo2 PC & Gears Of War with duck and cover ground combat.

PC version also has full PhysX & Nvidia 3D support as its an Nvidia sponsored game (demo does not have this though). They released a trailer with the the PhysX enabled and it looks much more impressive than this demo!

MS are also going to be selling a GFWL version with Achievments soon which will only be available on their new Games On Demand service (maybe Steam version will get a patch for that as well). All retail versions are not using GFWL at all only GFW.

Some of the Alien designs are quite good and the game also features Nolan North voicing the main character. Bear McCreary has composed the game music using an orchestra.

Capcom who are only publishing the game not developing it also let slip that they are releasing on PC Dark Void Zero (as well as the consoles) which is a smaller arcade game coming in the next month or so.

Demo does not really show you much of a game they made a big mistake with the content as the full game looks better especially with the PhysX enabled. Also its the first game Capcom have ever released on PC same time as the consoles shame its not one of Capcom's top PC games instead of just a publishing deal for someone else!!

Total opposite here - thought it was poor on the controller (took me 3-4 minutes to kill the 3 ufos) but on kb/mouse, I took them out in under a minute.

Shame the demo is just a bit dull. It's one of those games that has something there that makes me think "make me like you!", yet it just doesn't. Sort of hoping it's just the demo that's a bit "meh".

Thanks for the heads up.

I tried it but the game went into window mode on my CRT :(
Can't make it go full screen Grrrrr

Need to start playing then escape out to the options menu, it's quite frankly awful, waste of bandwidth to download.

Looks average from the review, gameplay looks samey samey all the way through and off the air it looks slow.

Meh.

Oops they made a big mistake with the demo ever releasing it as its based on a last summer build of the game  (when it was supposed to be released) full game is supposed to be much better graphically especially on Nvidia cards & the controls are now much smoother apparently. Airtight games did not want to release the demo at all but someone @ Capcom Japan decided against it......

Capcom are only the publisher here they did not develop the game but it was first shown @ E3 2007 & some online rumours say MS paid to delay it as it was so similar to Gears Of War1 gameplay wise:eek:

I have seen that trailer before & never thought anything about that it had PhysX in it.

The blue blaster particle effects are over the top & i would reduce them or turn them off completely.
