Dark web

Creepy, after reading this thread my YouTube recommendation list has started including videos about the dark/deep web...

Guess matdom doesn't need to worry about Win 10 privacy issues anymore, Google Chrome is doing much much more

BS - That doesn't even make sense. Stop trying to be a wisecrack and explain that to the rest of us.

//edit OK I think I know what you're doing.... Chaining proxies but that's even worse as there will always be a route back to you and worse still is a nice audit trail of everything you've done.

Never connect via a proxy.

No just connect via your real internet connection without any proxy or socks5/vpn you will be safe then  He might of cracked someones WPA nearby and then used a chain proxy? I hear aircrack works wonders if you got a GPU that has many CUDA cores.

There's a lot of misconceptions here. Firstly, TOR itself isn't bad or nefarious. The protocol was designed by the Navy and has since been adopted for wider use. Millions of people, in countries such as China, use it to bypass draconian internet restrictions.

Secondly, if you don't want to end up looking at something you'd rather not, don't go to any .onion links unless you're positive what it is.

Lastly, ending up on a child porn website isn't an instant ticket to prison. Of course there are people that end up seeing underage people while browsing for porn, people are encouraged to report the websites as opposed to keeping quiet for fear of people labeled a paedophile (https://www.iwf.org.uk/report).

Actually the best advice if you accidentally come across that kind of thing is to erase all traces and say nothing to anyone.

There are some horror stories of people who reported accidental access of such things having a hell of time once they'd reported it. Actually having equipment confiscated and the like. How do you prove it was accidental? Do you want someone examining your legal porn habits?

Obviously, don't go looking for it. But if you end up finding it, erase it, erase it again, erase everything within two miles of it, and pretend it never happened.

You don't "prove it was accidental" the burden is on the accusers to prove your guilt.

Got a source for any of those horror stories you mention?

My experience was that everyone is trying to rip you off and one of examining each link thoroughly before clicking it for fear of stumbling onto something that can't be unseen. Incidentally, I got my first computer virus in about two years, days after installing TOR browser.
