Basically the same boat as me then mate, I have been craving an MMO with the risk factor. The best I have found so far has been the forum MMORPG.com which can be found here : http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/875/view/forums/forum/1408

I remember those walls in DF, with afk'ers macroing. Just shooting arrows at them for hours.. and then when bed time came, swimming against a wall to get stat increase. Oh god it was horrible.

Hmm I purchased the first Darkfall and never played it for more than like an hour. I may have to try this one properly as I too am an old UO player, and have been looking for it's 'replacement' for years. This or that Archarge look close, so no harm in trying I guess..

Where do I sign up?

That's the thing, we are allegedly 7 days away from the release date, with one of the developers saying last week he was hoping for pre order details to arrive "early this week". So one would assume tomorrow would be the cut of point for that, if no details have been announced before or on friday, I would fully expect another delay.

When they release the details, I will post them in the thread if I get a chance, someone might beat me too it :)

Can't wait for this! Was in the beta for the original Darkfall and then played for a year or so after release, this is going to be great :D

Im not convinced, i played DAOC for many years, its PVP was unsurpassed imo, the whole full loot thing is kinda disturbing, doesnt it effectivly take you out of being able to compete if you get killed and looted? are you then in the position where you have to go and re-gear and avoid griefers while doing so? If so can someone explain the fun in that?

This game is not for you. (Carebear :) )

@SiDeards73, I agree DAOC had good PvP, the sieges were especially, well done for the time.

The full loot mechanic encourages you to only travel with what you must. MMOs where you can run around with a full set of legendary armour or whatever, sealed in a randomly unopenable bag just seems weird to us old UO players.
The main impact it has on gameplay is preventing a single player from repeatedly throwing themselves against an otherwise impenetrable defence with little or no cost. It's also fun having to run somewhere with an expensive item, with only your wits and luck to help you avoid getting slaughtered and robbed. Anyone who handled house deeds before they were made 'blessed' (not lost on death) will understand.

I'll take a look at this next DF game and see if it's any more compelling than the original.

@SiDears73 - That's what a lot of people actually find appealing. Back in Ultima, there was no greater feeling than finding a good piece of gear, and trying to get back to town to bank it, only to get to britannia bridge and those dreaded red names appear at the top of the screen. Sure it can be frustrating, but the whole risk-reward is unbeatable for me.

See i dont get it, why go to the trouble of finding great gear just to bank it? lol.. so your saying basically go out, find decent gear, put it in the bank, never wear it and spend the rest of your time fighting in crap gear cos it dont matter if you lose it, so whats the good gear for? purely bragging rights?
