Dash cam

hi, sorry to high jack thread, but going to get the Mobius dash cam.

Looking to wire it via the fuse, what wires / connections would I need to buy ?

Scotch locks, fuse tap and a pack of spare fuses.

This is essentially what I bought for the job, and I ended up with spares and bits to use here and there, which was nice.

Thanks, perfect :) But what is the first eBay link for ??

The mobius doesn't come with a USB lead or anything so was just going to get a standard 3m mini usb lead and usb cig charger.
 
That's to splice in the 12v lighter socket to the existing wires behind the glovebox (namely just the ground wire), in my car I used the torch charger ground wire which these all have, I don't have the torch (it's crap anyway:p) so hijacked the ground connection from that. The live wire will be spliced to the fuse tap of course.
 
thanks, ahh so it just strips the wire to the bare metal basically. couldn't you just use a knife or similar ?

and whah that site with the code charges £46 for the camera and get quid too !! bargain.
 
You could use a knife, but you want a good quality fit and finish so scotch lock it up properly :)
 
ok bought all the bits but this part is confusing, on the description of the female cig lighter:

Type: Straight(The red wire is the chassis, and the black wire is live)
Wiring: 2 wire connection (Black= Negative) (Red= Positive)

So from the add a circuit thing do I connect the black or red wire to the female cig lighter as it seems to contradict itself ?!
 
Ignore the description, had me confused too. Basically the red wire is positive, so that goes to the fuse tap and the black is the ground, attach that to any ground point or scotch lock off an existing ground wire from behind the glove box.

You'll need to find what colour wire is ground for your car of course to lock off of. My car is brown.
