Hey.

Can anyone recommend a decent dashboard (not windscreen or air vent) phone holder?

I want to mount the phone to the dashboard on journeys and due to the size, shape of the windscreen in conjunction with the driving position means that mounting the phone on the windscreen using my existing holder is a not ideal.

Appreciate the input! :)

Double sided tape magnetic holder? Need a small metal plate attached to your phone though under a case or double side tape it as well.
Can only put on smooth surfaces!
There's another that slot into your cd player also.

I wasn't a fan of air vent as the one I had the past was crap. Like yourself I prefer to see as much as I can through my windscreen so gave the Kenu Airframe+ a try. I really like the thing. Sadly it is vented but I think your options are limited. As said the only thing I can see is trying a CD mounted one.

Have a look for Brodit mounts to fit your car / phone.

OSO Mount. It's a suction cup mount with a semi-solid-gel surround. Sticks to textured dashboards like glue (as long as they're reasonably flat) but easily removable. I've used them in Honda Insight, Polo, Golf, Fiesta, Leon, Hyundai i40.

I've used both dashgrip and spacemount. Both great products. I'd trust them to keep the phone in place even in a crash.

I second the vote for Brodit. Using one as the vertical vents weren't too receptive to vent holders and didn't want anything at windscreen level, downside is if you change handsets often then you either need the universal or keep spending
money behind the phone specific proclip. The oso mounts look interesting for textured dashboards though!

Damn! I was about to post a thread for one of these as the cheapo one that is in the car at the moment vibrates way to much for my liking. Its one of those cheapo bendy arm ones which are rubbish!

Thanks OP for saving me the pain of writing this.

I don't often take my phone in the car and don't particularly want to spend much on a bracket or block up my air vent with one. As a result I bought these picture hanging strips. Put one on the phone and one part on a smooth, empty part of the dash and press on. They're like velcro and remove easily without leaving a residue. I've also found they're reusable. It's also useful because you can put it in the instrument cluster if you have a flat one like mine. Did that recently, the only thing it obscured of note was the engine oil temp - not completely wise but I don't use it all the time and have some faith in my car. :D

You can get larger packs and cheaper from other retailers. Just found these to show as an example. Can't remember where I got mine actually. Probably somewhere like Wilkos.
