Dashboard - What's the point?

ok i am just not feeling the love for the dashboard.
I never ever use it, can people tell me what they use it for etc? I just can't seem to find a use for it?

I use it for the calculator, weather, stickies, dictionary and measurement converter.

That's without any third party widgets as well.

Things like dictionary make it much easier to just hit F12 rather than spotlighting dictionary.

Once you have played with it a bit and found widgets that are useful there's no end to the possibilities of Dashboard. (May be a bit hyperbolic but you get the idea).

I assume you are using Tiger? Spotlight can now deal with calculations and dictionary definitions. I only really use it for iStatPro and todo lists.

I never use it either. Eats memory and cycles for no reason whatsoever. The dock icon is the first thing to go when I install a new system.

I'm on Leopard but when looking for dictionary definitions in spotlight I often get a document, app or website as a primary hit so it misses the dictionary completely. I could click on the dictionary drop down thing but I usually just hit enter out of habit.

As for resources I've never found DB to slow my system down. I don't have the dock icon, like I said I just hit F12.

I have Dashboard on a Hot Corner, so I cna just mouse to it easily to bring it up.

I use it for Sticky Notes of random info, to do list etc
Weather/iStatPro/Premiership table/BBC Radio widget

and finally, Minutes
a useful countdown timer (for when somethings in the oven)

I can't seem myself using dashboard but I found vista's widgets much more useful as they were clearly visible on the screen instead of having to press anything or do anything for that matter.

theres a range of useful ones for both though.

All useful to me. I use Dashboard daily.

I would rather have a clear desktop and be able to press a button to reveal widgets than have then on screen all the time. It was the first thing I turned off in Vista after installing.

I've never really used it to any great effect myself. I've installed iStat but thats about it.

Calc, World Clock and Weather for my friends in far flung places and the measurement thing all come in really handy.

I use the handy iTunes album widget that fetches artwork if missing.

I don't really pay attention to the weather widget but I have it there.

I use it mainly for post it notes and the occasional dictionary
