Been getting the above error messege on a few files when using torrent - I know this sign, it usually means my HDD is on it's way out! It's not even a year old! =/

Is there any way I can be sure? Any steps I can take to fix it?

Just ordered a new HDD - Saturday deliv. to get the files off the old drive ASAP.

I've been here before. This is the 3rd Seagate drive I've had fail, never had such problems with WD. Gone for a Maxtor this time. Grr unnecessary expense.

maxtor and seagate are now the same company if i am not mistaken
Indeed they are. However, I advise to persist with Seagate. They are statistically the most reliable company, for which they are renowned and also, since you say you've had so many problems with them, the likelyhood is that you will not anymore. You've had your 'share'.
