I have been looking for a second stick of ram for my laptop. I am sure I'm getting the correct type of ram apart from this one option:

Data Integrity: Non-ECC or Non parity

What is the difference between these and does it affect my choice? I can't see any mention of this on the memory that is already in there.

Thanks...

Sorry, think I am a bit confused...

The problem is I have seen these two options in the various online shops, but not sure which I need to go for, how do I go about finding this out?

thanks

ECC RAM is special RAM for server boards and things so you won't need that unless you're running a dual socket Intel Xeon setup or something.

Don't know what (non) parity RAM is.

Edit: Woot! I'm a Hitman now!

Thanks, so from that I can get some non-ECC RAM.

I've done a little reading around on the subject also and it seems although it wont be needed parity ram seems to be a good idea as it can detect any errors and avoid the system crashing etc.

btw congrats on the status :)
