Data Recovery on HDD

Hi guys,

I'm just checking if there's anything I can do to restore some data from a laptop hdd.

Usual scenario of said drive Windows not detecting a boot device.
I plugged it into my machine and disk manager detects it but unable to initialise the device.
I have tried EaseUS and MiniTool data recovery freeware to try and scan it, both have gone hours and unable to read any data although I'm sure these aren't the most reputable of programs seems as they're free.

Anything else you'd think I could try?

Hdd is from 2014, not mega old but usual scenario of working one day and not the next.

EaseUS is very good in my experience - free trial or not.

Fair enough, I left it for over 24 hours and it was trying to bypass bad sectors, but seemed a continuous loop, the countdown timer never changed, maybe the hard drive is that knackered?
