data recovery

ok one of my hdds has died, it says on the diagnostic programe that the raw error read is bad. when i looked this up on the net everyone says that it is beyond help.

windows keeps prompting me to format the drive but i was wondering if there is a way i can recover the data??

i think your hard drive have physical bad sectors, you can use recovery softwares like GetDataBack available for both ntfs and fat 32 system.. cause this i have tried on ntfs and it recovered my all data.. hope this will solve ur prob...

i am in the processes of using testdisk it appears to be recoveriving all my data.......... thank god.

its been running since about 6pm last night and has another three of four hours left.
