Databse theory

Am trying to get my head round databse theory ie relational algebra. Dont seem to be getting anywhere just cant seem to do it. Anybody know any websites / books that will help me get my head round these topics. And goign through it slowly

Dev Articles have a good starter post. Also check out normalisation. Something tells me you're over thinking about this as its principles are quite simplistic.
