Is there anyway to find out when BT will update my local exchange so i'll be offered better packages from my ISP?

not too smart on this front. Basically im paying 17 a month for bt broadband through sky. Apparently once it is upgraded, to allow new kit to be installed in or whatever, we will be offered actual sky broadband packages....our package would be 5quid with them

*Sorry yes i was getting on at unbundling

It isn't BT that'll do that. It's up to Sky when they can be bothered sticking their kit in your exchange, if they ever do it.

You sure on this? It was my understanding BT needed to create space and stuff for sky to install their stuff to offer LLU?

Your right there, and so is Tolien. At present Sky are providing you with the broadband service through BT's equipment in the BT exchange. Once unbundled (the process of an ISP installing their own dslams in a BT exchange) you'll be moved over to the new equipment. BT however will still own the cables that carry the DSL signal so if there's any problems said ISP has to log the fault to BT, a process which can be fraustrating to say the least !

Like Billsterno says, check out the Sam Knows website - it should let you know if there's any dates available for you exchange.

There almost certainly already is space. Most exchanges are largely empty after all the mechanical equipment was replaced ~20 years ago.
