As I have issues with names and associations (something I'm not going into in the GD forum) I thought once described who he was it may click and that I may know him.
Out of a sense of respect for someone dying I typed "RIP," but typed that I did not know who he was in hope someone may have explained who he was, in the thread, considering it is meant to be in a dead person's memory you would think that would be the decent thing.
So to all those who are asking why people posted they did not know who he is, that is why I personally posted.
Z list celeb, husband to Liza minnelli, father to a murdered son, commanders of the armies of Hollywood and General to the phoenix Legions... I think he was friends with the Jackson family too.
My 5 year old Nephew showed me a trick the other day and I'd like to share it.
He went on a program called Goggle or something and typed something in and all this information came on the screen.
Mind blown.
I recognised his photo but couldn't say I knew what he did. There is always a desperate need for people to distance themselves from any kind of celeb/pop culture though which just comes off very cringeworthy.

What's wrong with distancing yourself from it? Tbh I find the whole concept of "celebrity and pop culture" in itself cringeworthy, I don't personally think I'm trying to distance myself from it, I just don't like it and think it's indicative of many of modern society's flaws, I wish we'd celebrate people worthy of celebrity status rather than what we seem stuck with.
Anyway RIP again to the man, I'm sure though far more worthy people have passed this week without mention which is my point.

Nothing's at all. However I've seen the same comments in threads about celebs who you can't help but hear about no matter how hard you try to avoid it. This one was perhaps a tad obscure but we had it on a lot better known people.
Unless you avoid tv, radio and the internet I don't see how some people can claim to not have heard of some pretty big names.
The whole celebrating people worthy of celebrity status is a can of worms in itself as the whole idea of 'worthy' is subjective anyway.
