David Lloyd- worth it?

David Lloyd is not a real gym. It is a gym where many faggots gather to pretend they are strong and buff.

Please go somewhere decent like golds gym/ymca etc etc

David Lloyd is not a faggot, personally I think his recent commentary on the Stanford Super Series was first rate.

I've recently joined one.

I am pretty impressed.

Wide range of good quality equipment, friendly staff, only downside is the price which is a little steep.

Lol at your post, the David Lloyd is a very well equipped gym and probably one of the nicest ones I have ever been to:cool:. The only problem I had is no 45kg + dumbbells, not enough 25kg plates, over priced!

Oh and to my knowledge we dont have a Golds gym or YMCA in the uk:(.
There is a Gold's in Hanwell, Harrow, Dagenham and Hounslow.. http://www.goldsgym.co.uk/ :)

The one in Hanwell was just a few mins from where I used to live. It's huge.

Other than the price and the fact that the equipment (free weights in particular) which isn't quite enough for my liking it's a pretty damned good gym. However I have to say I prefer the more spit and saw dust type... however if I could afford it, and if it were just as bit more meathead friendly I'd be interested. Nothing like a nice sauna after a hard session!

It's entirely dependant upon your preference, and the facilities you require.

If you want to lift big, and serious with like-minded individuals, FF's awesome 'spit and sawdust' analogy is spot on :D

On the flipside, if you're more inclined to a range of facilities, functions, fitness proffessionals and a broader spectrum of social interaction, go for something like David Lloyds. However, this type of facility does require a premium.

Personally, I LOVE the envireoment of an upmarket gym, and think that for someone who spends a lot of time in one, paying a premium can be worth it. Ultimately, you're the one who has to train there, try and get a weeks trial to get a feel for it.

Also, if you'll be interacting with the PTs there, either socially or for advice. Make sure they aren't pillocks. These days the training we receive is very in depth, but there are still a few who leave a little to be desired.

Ant

Ideally I'd love to have the choice of both type of gyms. Then I'd do 1 week of hardcore underground greasy grimey gymming.

Then a week of "posh" training and enjoy a sauna and other facilities.

They are pricey but their facilities are top notch, I could have joined for £48 a month (corporate rate), my local leisure centre is only £27 bu their weight setup is rubbish, Fitness first isnt bad @ £32.

I found a spit and sawdust type gym, and it was great, cheap too, £15 a month, problem was, it was just too damn crowded.I want a bigger version of that ideally, facilities are all well and good if you use them, I wouldnt tbh.

Ive decided against it and stick to my home workouts and road running, Ive got some stuff from Ebay, squat rack and a marcy bench, and about 150kg of weight, which should do me for now.

Its worth it if you have the money, i started to go straight after i left school, and what a place, everything you need, but i couldnt afford it, it wasnt all the price of david lloyds, it was getting there and back, if i lived next door and used it every day, then yeh id be able to afford it, but i live about 10-12miles away from there, and going every day there and back wasnt worth it.
