Day courses for pipework?

Piping is fun. Modern compression fittings or solder ring are so reliable and easy to apply. Difficult to go wrong really. So are push fittings. dLockers is right, any copper pipes buried in the wall or floor must be wrapped in something waterproof if the area is often wet. Pipes will rot out very fast if not. Depends how wet the wall is but in the worst case Denso or Petro if you want to do it on the cheap, messy though, and conduit pipe if you don't mind spending a little more money.

I've been soldering since my grandad taught me to braise pipe when I was six, and I still do it most days for work.

Soldering is about practice and once you have the back of watching the pipe before adding the solder your are golden. Making sure pipe and fittings are clean and well cut is a must, even if the pipe looks clean use a pipe scrubber or cloth rasp to clean it properly before you add flux.

As other have said Plumbparts on YouTube does some great videos.

If you want to try it get a length of pipe and a mixture of cheap fittings, cut it into chunks and just fit it all together, just remember heat will travel through short lengths of pipe very quickly so make up a shape (squares are a good start) and work your way around.
