Hi guys!

My mate has just bought a supra twin turbo!! And he needs to insure it for a day to drive it home, or he's gonna have to pay someone to drive it home.

He is 20 year old and cant insure it until he's 21 hehe

Anyway, anyone know any day or weekend insurance companys? He dont mind paying obviously but dont wanna pay more than £200 for a day..

Cheers!

No, i've used it a few times - im 19.

Cost me £10.50 for one day with Norwich Union.

How does that work out?
Do you contact Day Insure then your insurance company?

I need to be insured on a VW Bora 2.0SE for about 3 weeks or at least 1 week.
I need to find out the cheapest method.

Dayinsure.com states in the policy wording that you need to be 21. Although it doesn't seem to ask for your age while taking the policy out, I presume the insurance would be invalid if you are under 21.

thought DOC cover only worked if the car was insured by another person?

And yeah, dayinsure is 21+...only a few more months for me though :)

I thought DOC worked by just getting the permission of the owner of the car, regardless of who the car is insured by.

You did it illegally, then. It'll let you buy the policy even if you are 10, but it's not worth the paper it is written on becuase the policy is subject to you adhering to the terms and conditions you clearly didn't bother to read - you must be over 21.

Whilst you can buy a policy, you cannot have a VALID dayinsure policy unless:

a) You are over 21
b) The car is NOT modified
c) The car is NOT a grey import
d) The car is NOT Group 18 or above unless you are 25 or over.

It's all explained on their site.

Personally id join the AA and make sure you get the cover where they take your car home and not just to a garage..Then id pull a relay or something to do with the alarm and just ring them and tell them the car cut and now wont start.. :)

Don't forget that ignorance is no defence in a court of law so if you were stopped you'd probably have found yourself in serious bother :)

Don't try and cheat the system :)

He bought a car he can't even drive home. Even at 21 he's gonna struggle to find anyone to insure it unless his father is Rockafella.

Makes me laugh he doesn't want ro pay £200 a day for insurance but buys a car like that. He is hardly in the position to demand.
