Day insurance

Get off your high horse mate... he aint stupid! He has 4 years no claims bonus and wants to wait until next week to insure it because believe it or not he couldnt get a quote for less than £3k at 20 year old, but when he turns 21 next week he can get insured for £1500 UNDER HIS OWN NAME!

My mate is genuine and always likes to do things straight... hell, he could drive it home with no insurance but theres always the risk of crashing or getting pulled, so he aint stupid enough to risk it.

At the end of the day he has worked hard for it and will continue to work hard to look after it and enjoy it... his dad hasnt helped him out with it at all!

Can't he just wait a week then?
Surely waiting 7 days isnt going to kill him and will save him having to fins somehow to get it to his house insured.

If there is a reason why he HAS to collect it/have it collected before he himself can be insured on it ignore the above

Keep dreaming, I am 32 with 12 years NCB , never had a claim or accident and just had some quotes on a similar car. I have never had an accident and live in a low risk area with my own garage etc.

Fully Comp on a Supra Twin Turbo will cost me over a grand so you are being very optomistic for a 21 year old. 21 is not really the magic age, loads of insurance companies want people now over 30 that is why your mate is struggling getting insurance just to bring it home.

Perhaps it's the case that at 21 with 4 years NCB he isn't a 50% greater insurance risk?

If only it worked like that but I think many peoples wallets here would disagree. I am not justifying insurance costs just saying how it is.

why doubt the lad until you know for sure he cant get insured on a supra TT for that?... belive it or not.. the supra TT is actually quite cheap to insure for what it is.. ive seen quotes for my mate whos 21 and has 2yrs NCB at just over £2k.. seen them with my own eyes.. thus why hes getting rid of the T5 when/if he secures 3yrs NCB and getting a supra TT as its one of his dreams cars..

and have a friend there with the aero top Supra TT hes 23 with about 4yrs NCB and with all mods declared.. (its been dyno'ed at just under 450bhp) hes paying £1600 i belive...

Maybe they dont like you?...

I just did these quotes with Admiral, identical unless otherwise stated:

This is 12 months Fully Comp on a 97 Toyota Supra Twin Turbo Import valued at £7,500. No tricks used.

21 with 4 years NCB: £1,806
32 with 12 years NCB: £697.20

While it seems that yes, at 21 you are two and a half times the risk, in £££ terms it isn't ridiculous to say £1,500 depending on mileage, postcode and adding a few lower risk drivers

1.5k is a good quote for sure, just a quick check gave 1.3k with the same NCB and 29 years old. a lot of it is where its kept and your postcode, especially for such a flash motor.
