Ok guys, does anyone here play Day of Defeat source ?

As you may or may not know, in the July 08 update Day of Defeat source got the TF2 stylee achievements, lots to do.:cool:

I am now in the position of having completed all but one...but I am struggling to complete it.

It is the "Rationinig" achievement, "kill four enemies with a single Grenade. rifle grenade or rocket round".

I have tried for many weeks and can only conclude you need to be very, very lucky or have a clan to help with it.

In the absence of either of these factors, and if anyone on here is in the same boat with any of the achievements...perhaps a few of us could get on an empy sever and do some achievements farming.;)

Anyone ??
 
This was one of the first ones I got, it was on Donner, I was Axis capping the tank when on the left hand side I saw a rifle nade hit the tank (obviously just been fired from the Garand) so I ran picked it up and tossed it down the side alley connecting garden with the tank, got 4 kills :p

I'm up for helping :)

A couple of hot spots for this achievement :
Donner - Tank house
Flash - From the round start, middle
Colmar - From the start - Past half track to Axis spawn.

As I said...lady luck has deserted me...I can do with all the help I can get...cheers dude :cool:
Its killing me being 96% complete for ages....driving me mad:mad:

This is great.......wait for it.......you get different symbols of achievement above your head, if you complete all achievements then you get a Golden star above your head...forever...:D and all will know you are a "War Hero"
 
Dod source has really went down hill, the games in dire need of new maps, weapons, etc. I know they added some maps a while back but the gameplay imo is seriously lacking, should think about bringing back the brits into the game or possibly expand it to include more armies.

I think the achievements addition was a token gesture as it had lost most of its community some 9 months previous it had become stale and all the competetive ladders had also. This is why we stopped playing DOD:s and called it a day in September 2007.

Everyone jumped on the COD4 badwaggon, wowed by its graphics....although still the same old game play of CS.
I got a little bored with COD4 once you max out the XP and complete all the tasks, and unlocks...what is left to do ? I got asked into a clan or two , but really couldn't be arsed.

I only picked up the Bar again in August this year...but I quickly got pretty hooked trying to obtain some of the achievements.

I guess its a bit of a time filler....I think source games in general have gotten a little stale....I got pretty fed up with TF2 too.
 
Bring back the British I say. The achievements while a nice addition to the game are simply just a gimmick with the little icons over your head. Anyway, what happens if you master more than 1 different gun like I have? Which icon goes above your head?

I still play dod a few times a week but I don't know for how long that will last. It needs a serious update but it looks like its been seriously neglected and left to sit in the dark

The icon above your head changes dependant on whether you have mastered it, so if you have mastered all (like me) then what ever weapon class you choose you have that class icon over you.;)
 
Ah good to know. Still need to master the rocket class, MG and Sniper. I never go any of them though so that might take awhile
 
DOD:S always just felt like CS:S with slightly different guns to me, which was a shame, as the original DOD was very much its own game. It just didn't seem to capture the feel of the old game, and I barely touch it, whereas I could happily go and play the original even now.
 
Yea, I love DOD:S too but it just needs something new. So tired of going round the same old loops.

A good break makes it interesting again but that doesn't stave off the boredom for long.

Bring back the Brits! :D
 
i enjoyed it when it was like $9.99 weekend, but compared to TF2 or CSS, its not really 'got it' for me. In theory its good, but it feels like a Quake 2 mod or something, just not well refined.
