Dayz, arma 3 build

It’s been a while, but DayZ/Arma 3 used to be very poorly (if at all) optimised for multi core CPUs.

Has this changed?
Just butting in here to reply. It's had tons of updates and works over the last year alone to stabilze it a bit more. But honestly, it's just the game/servers themselves that are crappy at this point. There's streamers that have £6,000 PCs and it stutters like you're flicking the internet router switch on and off quickly. :/

Hi I can understand that this thread has got somewhat confused, having popped back and fourth adding to it. Been saving a little more and whilst the second build would have met my needs, it wasn't great as an ongoing choice for future upgrades, thats why I looked again at the sub 1st build Casual gaming from a second PC for under £1k, just need the psu and the mainboard, and a windows key. Quick question here, how many of you are using win11, as I am not a fan and still prefer win10, part of me hopping back and forth was waiting to see if the new generation of zen processors made the prices change, and would like to ask if there is alternative psu, bronze a little cheaper that will meet my needs and little lower than 750w

You are almost there. All you need is a mobo and a psu. You have the 1050ti so may as well use it , can upgrade when you like.

Here are my suggestions for components with comments below.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £536.65 (includes delivery: £11.70)

Choice of mobo. One mini ATX with wifi but you have full sized case so you can get the normal ATX if you prefer. Not sure if you will need wifi or not.

PSU choices became more complicated over past week or so with the release of the 4090/4080 and the new spec power supplies that are designed to go with them. Firstly , there are problems with old psus and these new cards , they do not communicate like the new psus will and therefore the gpus may pull more power than the psu can supply. Secondly , they have made a mess of the new connectors and they are way too fragile and I expect an updated spec within a year to address this problem.
Power supplies went from simple to problematic overnight and not been in a situation like this for over a decade, it is a mess.

This means if you want to buy a PSU that is suitable for you needs at this moment in time with a 12100f and 1050ti then the 550w or 650w above will do the job. If you want to buy a psu with a newer card in mind then its very hard to advise because the new spec psus are just being released and they have design flaws that may or may not affect a person, we just do not know.

Win10 will work fine with a 12100. The lower end Alderlake chips such as the 12100 and 12400 only have Performance cores and no Economy cores. This means you do not need the fancy thread scheduling in Win11 to make them work correctly and Win10 will be fine.

Win10 is a free download from the MS website. You can run it without a key , i am, or you can purchase/source a key yourself.

As per usual great and prompt advice, for the time being I will be going with the Super Flower Golden Green HX 650W and the MSI Pro B660M-A in the not too distant future using win10 when built i will probably come and have more questions over best timing and such for performance, thanks for the help

little update brought pretty much everything as suggested and it was a great help, and everything has been quite well. Now I am looking to upgrade a little further maybe an I5, faster gpu, and do I have make any changes to the mainboard, especially if I want to run win11 in the future
