"DB = Flash Update is Failed" in the manual

Updated the flash through windows. Rebooted and now the machine turns on and constantly reboots. (Doesn't post)

Tried the clear CMOS button to no avail. Took the battery out for five mins and nothing (currently out for around 20 mins)

Anything else I can try on this board?

Right guys I found out the board has a dual bios mode so I switched to the backup bios. All working ok now. How do I get the main bios working again though?! Is it ok to run in the background mode?

You spam alt and f12 I think it is to flash main with backup BIOS,press them together and as fast as you can at gigabyte splash screen

It should recover the corrupted main BIOS chip

Edit: just remembered if you switch back to main BIOS then press front panel power button so that the fans just start to spin, then straight away flick the psu rear power switch off,do this two or three times then powerup normally and you should see a msg on screen saying recovering main bios from backup BIOS,once its flashed you should be able to boot from main BIOS again

None of that worked unfortunately. Then problem with the main bios is that I never actually get anything displayed so I could never really spam alt+f12 on the splash screen although I did try. I also tried the power off method and still nothing.

Backup bios works fine

Can you boot into the backup BIOS and then flick the switch in order to flash the other BIOS? I don't know if this works or not, but it does on AMD graphics cards with dual BIOSes.

you have to start the pc only for a split second,it should work as ive done it for my z77 gigabyte board

it recovers the main bios from the backup bios chip,z87 is exactly the same

you have to start the pc so that the fan just starts to rotate then turn off asap with the rear psu power switch

keep trying as it will work,be sure to boot from main bios as you do it

Plot thickens. What you suggested still didn't work. I switched to the working bios and loaded up the mboard manual. I didn't know there was an LED on the board that displayed what bios you were using...it said I'm using the main bios :/

So it seems what I thought was the backup bios was actually the main one so I presume the board came switched to backup already. I would never of looked

It seems I can't restore this backup bios back to default annoyingly enough despite what you've suggested. I'm scared of ever flashing this main one now!

Scrap what I just said then, the SB switch is still on 2 which is the backup_bios, the led seems to stay the same regardless.

Is it safe to just use the backup bios?

Argh!

yeah you have two bios chips, either will work just fine

you can recover the main bios the way I said though just keep trying

Which leads me to think maybe the main chip is damaged or something?

I honestly tried everything you suggested a lot of times..

if you cant recover it then you can only rma for a new bios chip to be soldered on or just use the backup bios

Please use Q-flash to update the main bios.
1. Bios_SW set to 2 (boot from backup bios) and SB set to 2 (single bios) to boot up the system.
2. Press del to bios setup screen
3. Switch BIOS_SW to 1
4. Press F8 Qflash to update bios.
5. The main bios is updated.

That worked, many thanks.

Thanks to Stulid too for pushing you my way, I wasn't getting any responses on the Giga forums.
