Send your rigs down to me, I could do with the extra heat, it's -1 at the moment.

ooh, there's a fresh team stomp of Germany in dpad, that gives us a double hit in our defense of the tenth spot :)

I think it might be a bit longer than a year, I will keep chipping in when I have no work to support my Number 1 positions :D but have also moved over to help jondi get some good cheap points for the team :)

Eon and Docking have been removed hence the jump to 9th :)
It's a start to the shake up, positions will change dramatically when the other proposed projects are added/removed. There's going to be a public announcement of the proposed changes where everyone can voice there opinions.

When a new project moves into the Vault are the existing points already accrued ignored as far as the Vault is concerned, ie there is no point in trying to get work done before it goes in ?
 
Well none of those interest me, maybe a bit of constellation but certainly not the pure math ones :(
Have people been scared off setting up new research type DC projects because of mining or is it that folks don't want to crunch unless the results are open and researchers want to make a living out of their work?

NRG currently has no work, something which I have mentioned, same goes for all of the on the fence projects apart from WUProp. I noticed you've been doing a bit on mindmodeling, don't know if you have anything good or bad to say about it?

Vault converts project position into vault points so any points acquired before being added will count.

I've only recently got into DC so don't have a knowledge of the history of things. When I picked Mindmodeling it was because I was happy to contribute to that science but primarily because I thought I could get to number 1 in the team fairly quickly (:D) AND it would move the team position much higher up the list (66 places so far :) ). I know they have had one gap recently when no work was available so if the criteria is for a non-stop supply of work then I can understand why it shouldn't go in. I've had no problems with the project (site, work units, results, stats), all good.

Personally I quite like to have a few projects that come and go so I can chop and change to chase the points (sorry - contribute to society), it's all part of the fun. I have background tasks that will pick up the slack if my favoured projects run dry. I know others get involved in challenges that are run that force you to chop and change. Do the well planned projects ever run out of work given the surge in demand they must satisfy during these challenges ?

I'm happy to be advised by others or just to look through and see where team points can be had or defended. Whether they are just for BOINC projects or not, if they also give credit in our Vault position so much the better.
 
You gained us a point in Formula Boinc (league 2) for mindmodeling :) it's not a competition that we seen to actively discuss here but I like to keep an eye on our progress.

Nooo they shouldn't remove LHC :( Their work may be inconsistently available, but it remains an active project. Indeed I can see credits for many of our team in the last week and month.

Many smaller projects do a bit of research, then need time to evaluate that. I much prefer that concept than projects just churning stuff over and over. You know what is being done has merit. Boinc was designed as a platform that could allow computer resources to re-allocate depending on the work available.

We are waiting on mindmodeling to allow access to it's stats server and there are currently "technical issues" ATM with OGR-28

Excellent, LHC gets removed just as it gets it's most sustained run of WUs for months. Oh well I suppose that helps to ensure the irrelevance of DC-Vault to supporting smaller projects.

I've had a go at the first two but am now just getting all the easy points from Numberfields :D It'll take a while to move up to 11th let alone get back to 9th :(

I had a look at the top 100 for LHC and recognised some of the big hitters, is it likely that they will stop contributing now it has been removed from the Vault ? I'd guess ideally the projects would like to have sufficient numbers of contributors so that all their work can get done immediately but do they 'advertise' when they don't have enough ?
 
The project itself will be fine, many big teams like seti.usa, Czech national team, alliance francophone, to name but a few, pay no attention to the vault.

I'm having a go myself on primaboinca, I'll give these other new projects more attention next week after the POGs challenge.

...also I've decided I need the no.1 spot on Einstein to add to my portfolio of OcUK no.1 spots :D so I'll be hitting that soon.
