DCS WW2 Kickstarter

I do realise it's more work, of course.

But when you've already got a proven game engine like the DCS engine, which I will agree is very accurate and has taken time to get that way, you don't have to start from the ground up everytime!

I'm pretty sure the Spit will end up have recycled aspects from the P-51 they've already finished. That's why I don't understand the kickstarter, or the pay-per-plane system.

To me this just smacks of DLC culture hitting the flight sim community, and someone who has been in the FS game for 15 years or so should be prepared to fund game development himself rather than taking pledges in my opinion.

He is funding the game himself, the Kickstarter was to give them more breathing room to prolong Beta testing, had the Kickstarter failed, the project was still going ahead.

You don't start from the ground up - sure, and the same logic applied to Il2:1946 as well: it's already simple planes were recycled and were thus easier still to make :)

DLC culture- I believe 777 and their ROF "invented" it for flight sims. Oleg laughed at them and said that their system can never work, but... it did. And it was adopted by DCS. One good thing about DLC liek system (apart from being much more humane than MMO "pay for repair" WarThunder type) is that numerous updates that it requires have all but killed piracy in flight sims that adopted it. There are pluses and there are minuses...
