Okay so I'm sure there's another post similar to this but I ran a quick leak test on my new build last night for a few hours however I've got 2 ek 18w ddc in my loop an I can't believe how noises they are whining etc, they arnt bolted to anything only the flexible pipe that attaches to them so it's not a viabration sound, I have today order 2 EK d5 vario crop pumps to replace them, is this the better option? Appreciate your comments cheers

its the same pump inside so what ever... :P

the d5 is quieter because of the way its cased. but both are fantastic get what better fits your budget and needs

I've used both and personally I've preferred my D5. It's quieter and also seems more powerful. I had a swiftech ddc which packed up after 2 years of moderate use. I was only pushing through one rad and a cpu block. I recently built my friend a computer with an ek res pump combo and the pump is so noisy I'm probably going to have to change it.

I'd certainly recommend the D5 over the ddc's. I hope you're not disappointed!

After some good deals I ended up going DDC pumps, but I'm using heatsink on both, I was a little bit worried about heat.

I have a DDC 18W and a 10W, actually the 10W@12V makes a little whining noise and the 18W is almost quiet.

The 10W is in a Bay reservoir and the 18W is using a top.

But I'm running them at 10.5V and both are quiet at this voltage.

Just to add if anyone re reads this thread I firred up my new d5's EK vario x tops today they are that quiet on setting 1-3 that you can't even tell
They are on!! simply amazing compared to ddc' s id never go back to ddc's!

Great news. Just note that D5 is great with most loops but once you put in restrictive elements then DDCs are better.
