DDC Pump Recommendations

Not that I know, but everybody is still using a 4-pin Molex adapter for power from what I can see. That's an easy one to unpin and sleeve yourself.

I'm using a 6w EK DDC out of one of there aio's from a few years back which is SATA powered which is why I'm a bit reluctant to change it but i run it at close to 100% (3000rpm) and these things don't last forever so need to think about a replacement.

Pretty sure everybody's aftermarket tops have near identical head pressure too, and XSPC and Aquacomputer have dual DDC tops as well. Ultimately my point no need to chase a specific model; that awesome pump is still available under different names - the pump is the same, the tops provide equivalent spec.

I remember back in the day when D5 pumps were the king and no one ever recommended a DDC pump unless its small form factor.

Are DDC's the go to pump now?

No idea. I still see D5s everywhere, but then most builds I see are bigguns with the space for the D5. I think that fact that DDCs are still potentially noisy still steers those towards D5s. Personally I won't ever use one because all of my plans and crazy ideas are all small form factor so there's no space for a D5. Hell, even the pump-enabled distro plate I'm thinking for a In Win 909 mod would still use a pair of DDCs because of where it'll be placed.

And then there's no love for the Alphacool DC-LT for when even a DDC is too big ;)

Got a few rigs under custom loop. Go D5 when space permits, DDC when it does not like my SFF PC's. Not had an issue with either to be honest and at a reasonably inaudible (if you lower the RPM on the DDC) and have both isolated fairly well with dampeners. In most rigs the D5 usually has enough head pressure. Only time it was not the case was in my primary rig, so went serial D5 for benefits of double head pressure and high flow rate.

Thats one thing i found with the DDC's is that they're too loud.. that vibration noise rattles my brain especially when the rest of the system is dead silent. The D5 on low speed is a dream, can barely hear it and my rig sits above my head on my desk.

I always hear people talking about DDC pumps like they don't last very long but I've got two in my system that have been going for 10 - 15 years now and show no signs of dying anytime soon.
