DDR and DDR2?

A mate's old 915 chipset motherboard has broken and he's looking for a new one and has found one with 2 DDR slots and 2 DDR2 slots, however he has 3 512Mb sticks of DDR ram and doesn't want less than 1.5GB overall really.

Is it possible to run from both the DDR2 and DDR memory slots at the same time?

No, its 1 or the other same as with SDRAM + DDR Mobos and DDR2 + DDR3 Mobos.
