DDR v DDR2.

I`m interested in this question too being on a skt 939 rig with 2gig 3500ll pros which are nippy.
I think early comparisons rated real world difference about 7%,couldn`t find anything more recent.
I imagine your biggest boost would be in a new intel based rig with good ram and a better gfx card.

I doubt you'd see much increase in the speed of everyday tasks or games. Perhaps you would in some apps that are extremely memory bandwidth-bound like some Folding@Home cores, but not in your run-of-the-mill games.

Going from DDR to DDR2 probably means a new mobo. Get one with C2D support and treat yourself to an E2180 and see a MASSIVE improvement in performance for a relatively small sum. :)
