Hi,

I have 4gb of Corsair DDR2 RAM in my PC and I wondered how close to the existing RAM specification I need to be if I want to add another 2 x 2GB.

The existing DDR2 RAM in slots 1 and 3 is Corsair CM2X 2048-6400C5C 800MHz 5-5-5-18 1.8v ver3.3 with a mauve label

Can I add another 2 x 2GB to slots 2 and 4 with specification:
Corsair CM2X 2048-6400C5DHX 800MHz 5-5-5-18 1.8v ver3.3

The only difference I can see is that the ...DHX... sticks have the grey heat exchanger fins on them?

The same logic applies to other variants of Corsair RAM where the only differences are things like the ver number and the letters after the 6400C5... If they are 5-5-5-18 and 1.8volt at 800MHz I wondered if these could also be safely aded to the exiting RAM?

If timings and volts are the same, your grand, however as youll be running 4 memory sticks, youll need to up the north bridge voltage a tad, 4 sticks puts a bit more strain on the memory controller.
