Hi all!

I've just setup a new system and i'm getting asymmetric dc mode in cup-z (which i thought wasn't full dual channel) is this correct for the following setup:

Asus P5KC Combo Intel P35

&

Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX

I'm kind of new to all this so everything on the motherboard is set to auto as im not sure what the manual setting should be!

Cheers

It is full dual channel....it just means it's not running 1:1 with the FSB (which is nothing to worry about)...

Aaa ok, so it will be ok then? There's no performance loss?

I'm running it with a Q6600 btw

Hang on, have i answered my own question there...the Q6600 runs at 1066 and the memory at 800...so is that why it says asymmetric? :)

OK so i overclocked the CPU to 3.2 and the FSB is now running at 400mhz to so i get 1:1 ratio...but it still says Asymmetric in the DC Mode box :S

If you definitely have the RAM in the right slots then it's either a bug in CPUz or your memory modules are not matched properly.

You might also want to try forcing 2T if you have that option.

If I remember correctly the P5K-C has both DDR2 and DDR3 RAM slots. The odd behaviour you're seeing might be something to do with a compromise the ASUS engineers had to make to bodge the two types of RAM together on one board (and yes, I do know you can't use them together).

Check what the BIOS is saying.

I thought the asymmetric mode meant that it is running in dual channel, but the modules are of different sizes.

Its very strange, i updated the motherboard bios and the memory sticks are definately the same (cause they came together in the same box, lol)

Here's what i get in cpu-z 1.43...

Don't worry I get the same with 4 x 1GB Geil 6400 ULL, all the sticks are identical but it still says Asymetric when it blatantly isn't.
