I'm pretty good with hardware but when it comes to reclocking stuff i get rather confused. :-)

I have a pair of Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066MHz:
http://overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-093-CR

However when the BIOS kicks in it only shows them at being around DDR2-800mhz.
Am i supposed to increase the mhz in the bios for the CPU so it shows the memory at 1066Mhz??

I'm concerned that i may need to do more (voltages? Multiplier etc?) :p
Thanks

hi ive got the same memory my was detecting as 800mhz also i had to set mine to 1066 & the timmings to 5-5-5-15 & also set the voltage to 2.1v hope this helps

thanks.
Is it a good idea for me to just set the speed or should i really set the timings and the voltage levels too? I'm not considering to overclock at the moment. ;)

What motherboard do you have? It might only support 800mhz Ram. If this is the case, you should be able to reach higher ram speeds when you are overclocking. My RAM is 800mhz, my motherboard supports upto 1066mhz. With my current overclock my RAM runs at 960mhz but 1280mhz is the highest speed divider i could use.

It's an ABIT IP35 PRO with a Q6600

Hi there

I have the same mobo and ram and am having exactly the same problem, I am however only using a p4 with an fsb of 800 do you think this 800fsb could be affecting the ram speed?

Also, I have since realised that the Abit IP35 Pro only supports dual channel ddr2 @800mzh and not 1066mhz...i may be wrong though.

Hi, i read that it accepts 1066. :)

Should i change voltage or anyhting?

Voltage for the Ballistix PC2-8500 kit should be set at 2.2v with timings of 5-5-5-15. I don't know about your board but in mine if i leave the FSB strap to North Bridge selection at Auto (i think it's the same as the divider as it lists from 200-333mhz) i can then set the ram frequency closest to 1066 from a drop down list. It's probably different in your bios though.

Just a heads up, i have had this ram running at 5-4-4-9 with no voltage increase at 1066mhz.

try setting the ratio to 1:1.250 and then overclock, shoudl get u close to 1000. atm i running an fsb of 378 and am runnign the ram at 945

timings are 5 5 5 15
