hi guys basically am looking for some DDR2 ram thats going to be able to take an overclock up to 1300Mhz+ with timings of 5-5-5-15, at the moment i have some ballistic PC6400 but its craps out at around 1275Mhz and i don't really like hitting it with 2.4v.

what would u guys recommend?

The OCZ Reaper HPC edition? I think it will achieve what you want.

1300mhz is a lot to ask from any ram...perhaps the 9200 Reapers might do it...

May I ask why you want to go that high?

basically trying to better my current 3dmark05 score, the ram is holding me back slightly, i could use a different FSB/memory ratio and up the FSB but this is resulting in a lower mark, i want to up the FSB more but keep the current FSB/memory ratio.

want to hit over the 25k with this system

Why you running 05?, are you only trying to get a GPU score as CPU doesnt not count towards final score.

It very dated and new version will be here sooner than later.

Your pushing it trying to get 1300mhz esp with Tight Timings out of DDR2, tyhats on DDR3 boundries.

Your GPU will count towards the score more than any other hardware.

i use all the 3dmark benchmarks, yes i know 05 is mainly GPU (one of the reasons why i'm using it) ocing the cpu/ram does make a difference in 05 have a look for yourself

last 2 results are with a difference of around 300Mhz on the cpu, FSB from 475-510, i know i can run the bench with a FSB of 525 but with a different FSB/ram ratio which lowers the speed of the ram and gives a result thats lower than the result with the 510 and faster running ratio hehe

so if i can get ram that'll run slightly higher then i can push the FSB up which will hopefully take me over the 25k mark, just wanting to see if i can do it

as for cpu marks, well best i can do is 3700 with my E6750 in 06 on air

I never said it wont make a difference, just the GPU is the most important part.

Obv a 8800Ultra with a 2GHZ CPU and 512MB of Memory would not be ideal.

We dont even know your spec inc GPU yet.
(you now at least mentioned CPU)

A faster GPU would give you a bigger gain. (and thats not just down to mhz, I mean architecture also).

To Volt mod your GPU ?

There is only so much mhz will get you, solder on some extra Stream Processors and Memory and your all set.
