:confused:Does ddr3 memory need to be installed in threes for full benefit? Or is it still only dual channel as is ddr2? (hope that's not a stupid question).

Reason I ask is most AM3/ddr3 boards seem to have the usual 2x dual channel slots & are quoted as dual channel (Tho I'm sure I've seen a board with 3 same colour slots (& an extra 4th one) specifically for 3x ddr3 stick)

Don't want to (eventually) buy a dual channel board if it will hold back ddr3 memory...or are these boards still capable of triple channel?

OK now I'm confused even more...just had a look at ddr3 ram for sale..some are dual channel & some triple?? (or is this just reference to the way they are sold..ie in pairs or threes)

TIA..Andy.

I was after this as well.

I have 3x2gb set of ram on the way but now i'm playing with idea of going amd route rather then i7 that i was planning.
Would i be able to use two 2gb sticks from my 3x2gb set in am3 board?
The dual channel ddr3 voltages are normaly higher of the tripple channel sets.
