Just one of my dumb questions please, if i buy a AM3 platform can i just buy a pack ddr3 tripple mem use to sticks without any problems or will they not clock as well cause problems etcc.
I understnd they will only run dual channel mode and 1 stick would be wasted but is a suitable option?

Yes, and in fact quite a few top OCers are already doing this as most of the best high performance kits are for Core i7 right now. And, having a spare module is never a bad thing.

Dual channel is a property of the memory controller, not the memory. If you put memory modules into the proper slots for dual channel operation, you are in dual channel. In this case on an AMD machine, 2 modules in the proper slots and he'll be in dual channel mode.
