DDR4 when can we expect price drops?

Looking at upgrading CPU and thinking why not 2011, CPU priced OK motherboards priced OK - DDR4 wth ?? Milking it or what ?

Not really...

As you're not really in to overclocking though (I don't think anyway?), you can get away with a kit that runs SPD surely? (2133) - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-178-CR&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=2557

Prices are "high" in high end kits as yields of IC to make these kits are low and only low numbers can be produced.

2133 and 2400 kits are very well priced I think.

Not nice looking though :p Yeah it true OC not for me but I still like the look of the system.

You're honestly better off waiting for Broadwell K or a bit longer for Skylake. For your uses you'll likely see no benefit in gaming even on a 5960x.

It's a pretty expensive upgrade for very little gain, I've mulled over it myself a few times.

Unless you're planning on doing more than just gaming then no.

We've had 6 cores around for a while now and they're no better for gaming than the 4 core i7's.

Skylake is rumoured to have a 20% IPC improvement over Haswell.
