DDR5, Same timings, Different makes?

Hello All,

I've got some "CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB Grey 32GB 6000MHz DDR5 Memory Kit" (CMH32GX5M2B6000Z28), I'd like another 32GB and this stuff is very hard to find and very expensive.

Overlockers sell some RAM with the same timings (6000MHz RAM Speed, CAS 28-36-36-96), I guess there isn't a definitive answer but does RAM of different makes, but the same speeds tend to work together?

Is it a case of just try it and see, if so, is it easy to return RAM that's been tried or is there any danger trying the RAM could damage the system?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks,

You can use different brands. The bigger issue is 4 DIMMs will stress your IMC more and may not work at those speeds. May have to reduce speeds to boot/ be stable.

Highly unlikely to damage anything but you may get charged a restocking fee.

Yes. 4 sticks are much better than it used to be on launch, especially if all 4 sticks are single rank, though the chances of XMP/EXPO working with one-click remain slim.

or is there any danger trying the RAM could damage the system?
No. The worst that could happen if the PC is unstable due to the memory overclock is you get low-key data corruption, or with a bad case: OS corruption that leads to a reinstall.

The RAM is single rank...toying with the idea of buying some and just trying it...or possibly selling mine and getting 64GB of the same make...I do a fair bit of video editing and think I'd benefit from the extra (I wouldn't consider it if I was purely gaming at the moment)

Decisions, decisions!

Just to say I had no issue running a 5900X, 5700X with all 4 slots filled, the 5700X had two different brands and XMP worked on them no issue at all, appreciate AM5 and DDR5 are different but just my 2P
