De-cat/test pipe

Made it from scratch. I need the cat for the MOT. But yeah, welding a piece of pipe onto the flanges from the cat would have been £10-£20 I suspect.

£58 isnt bad if they fabbed it from scratch.
Some turbo engines need the back pressure to hold the turbo gaskets in. Well, they will become looser quicker with less back pressure, like my old fiat coupe 20vt. Without the decat, I could leave it idling and it would start smoking after 5 mins, fitted the cat back on and it stopped doing it.

Sounds good to me there Tim. Love the change in note when it goes into vtec. I really must have a car with vtec sometime...

Sounds ok though, good for the money. My decat which mass produced cost £66 but that was a few years ago!

Thought I saw this going down Halifax Rd once.

Got a silenced de-cat on mine and it's still pretty loud

The performance increase was very noticable though compared to previous efforts.

No engine needs backpressure.

Mine has a decat, throttle response is noticeably sharper. The standard one is a metallic hi flow cat anyway so I didn't expect much gain.

The guy who bought my old Teg SiR has recently fitted a 4-1 manifold and a decat. He has gained 15lbft and 10bhp, using the same dyno for before and after.

I went form 3 cats to 1 hiflow cat and that made a big difference

Is this recent? Yours was stock last time I saw it... and if it is recent, what made you go for a Magnex?

That simply means the oil seals in your turbo were at the end of their life. Back pressure is a turbo's enemy since they operate on the pressure drop across the turbine.
