Hi every one, :)

Can any one recommend a de Frag software which is better than the standard XP one, and off course where i can get it from.
i have checked the OC software section and there is none available to purchase.

many thanks

OO Defrag. Google it. I like it because you can defragment several hard drives at once (MS one doesn't do this) and it has a stealth defrag which hardly hogs the system, unlike full defrag.

PS. I have had a look on web, and price is apx £25 for Diskeeper Vr 10 Home edition. Is that about the right price ! ?

Quite a lot of them offer 30 day trials - so download them all and give them a go - not only will you get free defrags for a couple of months, but you can decide for yourself which you like :D

Best advice! I tried to do this but stopped on the 1st one - Diskeeper ;)

Love it, but it's probably time to do the rounds?

There is a school of thought which says that defragging disks is a waste of time for most home users as it does little to improve the performance or lifespan of the disk.

I'm rather an agnostic on this issue. I do very occasionally run Windows defrag, more out of boredom than expectation. But I only use my computer for games, TV, the internet, word processing etc.

I would strongly dissagree! Most 'light' users can get away with an occational defrag' but it is still an essential if you want a fast machine. The first thing I do when somebody has a 'problem' with their machine is scan the registry and defrag the HDD. These two simple tasks often require overnight runs as they have not been carried out for years

i attempted adding 4000 songs to my music library ( dbpoweramp ) after a fresh reformat and install.

was going at about 100 songs a minute when adding.
So i defragged the disk ( all the music files are located under the same folder )
it then flew, and took a minute for the lot

I concur & another vote for Diskeeper ;)
