I bought a new AM3 motherboard (Asus M4A79T Deluxe AMD 790FX) and a Phenom II 955 BE. I've finished putting it all together, but nothing is working. The lights come on, and the fans are spinning but nothing is happening. It's not even beeping. Any ideas what the issue might be? This is the first time I've put together an AMD setup.

All power connectors secure, 8 pin for cpu power connected.
Memory in correct slots, or try only one module.
Somtimes a CMOS reset works.

How Many stick of ram are you using?
Try booting from one stick of ram and try in each of the dimm slots.

Gah, turns out that I didn't install the CPU correctly. I didn't see the lever I had to pull up and push down, I just had the CPU sitting with the pins down the holes.

The pins aren't damaged, but will booting essentially without a CPU have damaged anything? Even now I've installed it correctly, it still won't boot up.

Update: ooooh it lives! I just tried the one stick of ram trick and it lives! I know both sticks of RAM are healthy (at least healthy enough to boot up my old P35 board), so what gives?

You'll most likely have to increase the RAM voltage. All default settings are terrible...

find the max the memory can handle from the manufacturers website, and stick it close to/at that.
