I've just built my new Core i7 system yesterday. Had a few problems earlier this morning with Windows playing up but got that sorted and today I've just been transferring files from my old drives to the new PC (seeing as I didn't want loads of disks in the new system).
So it's generally been ok. Turned it off to just hook up my last internal drive to transfer the stuff from that and when I rebooted I got a message saying "scanning bios image in hard disk.." Then it restarts and repeats the same message. It kept doing that, then shut down, restarted, and same again but this time without shutting down at all. I turned it off, waited a few mins, turned it back on and now have just a black screen. The fans spin up and every 10 seconds the CPU fan speeds up to 100% before dropping back down in speed again but aside from that, bugger all seems to be happening.
I did try a CMOS clear on the off chance I may be able to get back into it but no joy.
So is the bios dead? Or is there any way to recover? Board is a Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R.
Cheers
Jon
