So to cut a long story short ish
Decided to rebuild my system with a uses asus sabertooth p67 and a 3570k (used)

Built the system and couldnt get anything to work, long and short of it was it needed the latest bios update for that cpu.....so i got hold of a rev2 cpu which booted fine and got windows running etc

Took the rev2 out and installed the 3570k and cleared cmos etcetc. Now system dumps memory on every single restart. fault finding says that its a ram issue. all slots and ram working fine before the cpu switch.
Reinstalled the i3 rev2 and i can get back into windows but now displaying as having 4gb of ram and at 1333 not the 1600 as per the ddr3. <it was showing this with the rev3 cpu in bios.
Cant boot with the 3570k at all but the i3 rev2 works fine appart from the ram displaying 1333 and 4gb (bios can see all 4 slots and displays them all at 1333hz but only give me 4 of the 8gb in the main boot window and in dxdiag)

is the cpu dead?is the mobo now deadish? will this saga ever end?

1333mhz is the default speed till you manually setup the correct speed or enable xmp/profile1

did you do a longer cmos clear? battery left out 10 minutes then try ivy cpu?

due to the thermal armor i didnt do battery out,the cmos jumper worked getting the i3 to work so i pressumed it was enough for the i5 aswell

The ram is at 1333hz but when i first ran the i3 it set it at 1600 and spotted the 8gb. I manually set it to 1600 to which it failed to load and displayed the ram fault light, using the button it booted back to its 1333 setting.
