Dead Dell 3008wfp

I have this monitor also, so expect at some point to have to do this. Can one of you chaps who's done it already post up your monitor disassemble instructions if possible ?.

Just double checking.

The replacement diode used mostly over at badcapps is...

STPS40170CT. Is the STPS60170CT OK to use.

Cancel that question.
I have just seen that people have used the STPS60170CT with success.

Mine arrived this morning. Time to solder...

The one people are using to replace it is rated about 50v higher so once replaced shouldn't be a problem.

Banano. Did you unsolder the capacitors that are in the way to access the diode or did you remove the heatsink and then unsolder the diode?

.

Best to just unsolder the heatsink and attached diodes. I spent ages fiddling around trying to do it without doing that but with no success.

I seem to recall the heatsink is soldered at three points and there are three other diodes to desolder in addition to the one to be replaced.

ZOMFG!!"£!

Finally got somebody to do the soldering this afternoon, and I'm currently sat in front of a fully working and operational (battlestation) 3008.

Mega thanks to Banano for the Diode. :D

I'll post a pic of the working screen when I get home!
