dead hard drive making tune please help

dropped my brothers external hdd.
this has all his photos and video of his wedding so would really like to get data from it.
when plugged into motherboard it makes like a tune! beebeep beebeep

not the usual clicking sound!

anyway we can get data from this or know a fix to make it work again

Please say he's not daft enough to have this as his only backup?

If it is, I wouldn't risk a DIY fix, it's time to send it off to a data recovery firm.

it was backed up twice, on laptop and hdd, then sold laptop so had to wipe laptop, was going to copy to disc but i dropped before he could!!

If this is the only copy of the images, it isn't worth the risk of making matters worse. Suggest you contact a few data recovery firms.
