Hi,
I have an ide hdd in my pc which recently seems to have died. It is a 80gb WD800, that was partitioned into a 8gb boot drive and the remainder a storage partition. I also have 2x 250gb HDD in a striped raid array, which i also boot off.
I recently re-formatted and installed a new version of XP on the boot partition, which worked fine for a few days, then all of a sudden my pc stopped recognising it. Bios wont see it, can't detect it at all, and when it gets to reading the raid array the whole thing just freezes. If i take out the WD800 everything works fine. I have tried putting the hd in another old machine i have and i get the same results there - undetected and freezes the system.
Is the whole hdd dead, or possibly is one of the partitions still ok? If so is there anyway of recovering what's on there, seeing as i cant get my pcs to read it at all atm?
Cheers,
K
